100 million Americans alerts for extreme heat, moisture

At least 100 million Americans are on alert for dangerous heat and humidity, which extend from Texas to Maine, on Friday, with parts of the east coast feeling that it is in the triple digits.

Heat notices are in their place from Texas to Virginia Occidental on Friday, with temperatures that reach between 105 and 110 degrees.

In Boston, the heat index, how hot it feels with moisture, could reach 103 degrees; New York City could feel like 104 degrees and Washington, DC, could feel like 109 degrees.

The heat will reach the levels that could affect “any person without sufficient cooling” or adequate hydration, according to the National Meteorological Service. The NWS added that there will be “little or no relief during the night.”

An incoming cold front will provide a slight relief on Friday afternoon, with electric showers and storms that lead to colder temperatures in New England.

Suffocating temperatures will continue until the weekend and next week from the west to the southeast, and the heat rates are expected to react 113 in parts of North Carolina and 110 from St. Louis to Tampa.

An extreme heat risk will be carried out from Sunday to Thursday for large portions of the Southeast.

While St. Louis deals with The Heat Wave, parts of Kansas City, Missouri, are under a sudden flood clock on Friday. Some parts were under a sudden flood warning at dawn on Friday with 1 to 3 inches of rain had already fallen at 4:30 am

According to the Kansas City Fire Department, multiple vehicles in high waters have been reported and at least 10 water rescues have occurred from Friday morning.

It is likely that more rain, from the southwest of Kansas to the center of Illinois, will continue until Friday morning, but will break in the afternoon. However, a redevelopment of this storm is expected later on Friday, bringing strong additional rains during the night and possible floods for some of the areas that are already beaten earlier in the day.

During these extremely warm temperatures, the National Meteorological Service Recommends those in impacted areas “limit outdoor activity, remain hydrated and guarantee air conditioning and other cooling areas.”
